Quantum Technologies Week

Discover the World of Quantum Technologies — The University of Georgia is launching a Quantum Technologies Week for high school students.

How does quantum technology work? What opportunities does quantum communication create? How can you start learning one of the fastest-growing technologies of the future today?

If you are interested in finding answers to these questions, the University of Georgia invites you to Quantum Technologies Week, which will take place on July 13–17 and will introduce students in grades 9–12 to the fundamentals of quantum technologies through both theory and practice.

During the week, participants will attend lectures delivered by University of Georgia professors Kakhaber Tavzarashvili, Irakli Noselidze, and Nana Dikhaminjia, as well as Mikheil Tsiklauri, Tech Lead at Apple. They will speak about quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum algorithms, and the opportunities that make this field especially important for the future of science and technology.

The practical part of the program will be led by Giorgi Tsiklauri, a student at UC Davis, and Aleksandre Tsiklauri, a student at Mountain View High School, who will conduct IBM Qiskit workshops for the participants. High school students will create and test simple quantum algorithms, become familiar with the basics of quantum programming, and see how theory moves into a real programming environment.

Only 20 selected high school students from grades 9–12 will participate in the week. The program is designed for students who are interested in modern technologies, physics, mathematics, programming, or simply want to better understand one of the most promising technological fields of the future.

Upon completion of the program, participants will have basic knowledge of quantum technologies and their first practical experience in quantum programming.

Quantum Technologies Week is organized by the Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence Center of the University of Georgia, in partnership with the Quantum Computing Association.

Participation is free of charge.
